Welcome to Antioch United Methodist Church on The Rock
You're Welcome Here
Antioch United Methodist Church on The Rock is a diverse congregation where the gospel is lived out in the world around us. Jesus, who is the very essence of God, loved us so much that He became flesh and lived among us. In doing so He showed us what it looks like to live into the Kingdom of God. Jesus loved everyone, even to the point of dying on the cross to redeem all of humanity. His resurrection assures us that He is Lord. His life, death and resurrection lead us to “love the Lord with all our hearts and to love our neighbor as our self.” Jesus did not discriminate against anyone; He welcomed all to the table. We invite all who seek to know Jesus and who seek to follow after Jesus to come worship with us. We welcome all to the table, regardless of your nationality, sex, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, political party affiliation or any other label that may be attached to you.
We welcome you here in the name of Jesus.
COVID 19 UPDATE
As I am sure you already know the new COVID Omicron variant is sweeping across our nation and community. This new variant is highly transmissible. We have had several members of Antioch UMC test positive for COVID since Christmas. Most of those, but not all, became infected while traveling over the Christmas holiday. I have been in discussion with key church leaders as to how we should proceed in light of this new COVID surge and most agree that we should continue with our hybrid approach of offering in-person worship and online worship. That being said, not everyone agreed that continuing with in-person worship is the safest route considering we have unvaccinated children and older adults who are more susceptible to severe illness. I have decided to continue to offer both in-person worship and online worship, but I am asking those who are not vaccinated, those with underlying health conditions and, of course, those who may be experiencing COVID-like symptoms to not attend in-person worship, but rather join us on our Facebook live feed. It saddens me to ask people to not attend, but in our current situation we must consider the impact on our brothers and sisters.
For those who are able to attend in-person worship, masks must be worn at all times, and they must cover your mouth and nose. Please refrain from hugging (I know how difficult this is for some of us) and shaking hands. All small groups and meetings from now until at least mid-February will be held either by Zoom or postponed until after this current surge subsides. We will continue to monitor the situation, keeping a close eye on local, state and federal guidelines.
Jesus told us in Mark 12:30-31, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” In our current situation we all need to love each other by protecting each other from illness.
We are in this together,
